I have a 1940 "B" that has a good "base" coat of red, but desperately needs painting to be "strike". I found the Rustoleom "Fire Safety Red" to be a perfect match for the Farmall red. I tried it first on bare, rusted metal. I used naval jelly to clean off the rust, then sanded with wire brush. Next, I sprayed Rustoleom primer and finally 2 coats of the red. Be sure to let the primer dry completely (I waited 48 hrs to be sure)before applying the red. The parts I painted ended up with that smooth, slick, wet look. Can't wait to get my "B" out of the shop (new brakes) and warm weather to get here so I can paint the whole thing. The best news is the entire cost is about $100. Can't beat that with a stick!
