As far as your wedge problem i can not answer that one as i can not see the whole problem on here all you can do is try a new wedge . The engine problem now it could be just the fact that ( i think there is a as i call them a Maxi pad back there that has deteriorated ) or you have broken a couple rings or they never seated . Now if the engine was up dated to the ( B) seires then you would have the top vent valve cover breather but if it was just rebuilt stock then it does not requier the top vent.
