I just went down to my shop and looked at a mag I have down there.I think it would be easier to take the mag off the tractor to change the condenser. The way I would go about this is to set the engine on #1TDC before you take the mag off.Remove #1 spark plug and hand crank the engine with your finger over the hole. When you feel air blow around your finger you are on #1 compression stroke. When the air stops, you will be at #1TDC.Remove the hand hole cover from the bottom of the bell housing.Under the flywheel there is an index mark.On the edje of the flywheel there is a mark that says 1-4TDC.Line that mark up with the index and remove the mag. When you reinstall the mag,set the rotor back to #1 and bolt it on.If the impulse coupling spring makes it difficult to install, feel where the impulse spring begins to compress and turn the engine backward until the tractor coupling half matches the half on the mag and install it.As far as the points and condenser are concerned, installation will be evident when you look at them.
