A voltage regulator, when opended will have 3 coils inside. They control the voltage, current, and cutout (disconnect battery when motor is off). The terminals are "B" battery, "G" generator, "F" field or ground.---TO trouble shoot, make sure you have a good groudn on the regulator first. Next you can jumper the "F" terminal to ground and see if the generator starts charging. Make sure the "B" terminal has 12 volts from the battery and is hot. The "G" terminal should have battery voltage when the tractor is running.---You can polarize the regulator by touching the B and G terminals momentarily with a jumper, with the motor off, then start up and see if it will charge.---Also look at the contacts in the regulator and see that none are "stuck" or dirty.
