Bob, I've hauled H's and similar loads in 8 different states behind my 318 Dodge 1500 automatic with no problem. I just don't plan to maintain the speed limit on grades. I've hauled the 300-U with loaded tires and a FEL with the same rig about 700 miles...much heavier than an H. I usually haul Cubs two at a time, and with implememts they must be close to the weight of an H. I do lock the tranny out of overdrive in hilly country to avoid extra down-shifting. Others may not agree, but I think the freeways are easier on the truck and trailer. Buy a heavier truck only if you want one for other reasons, but if you're a good driver, your 1/2 T Chevy can handle the H with a good trailer. George Willer
