We use a farmall H with a 31 power loader and a regular IH blade made to bolt to that loader. We also have a 3point blade that we made for our 1270 Case. My grandfather made that blade about ten years ago out of 3/4" thick natural gas pipeline for the moldboard, its 9 feet wide with a 2 foot high moldboard and the framing for the three point is 4 inch box steel. It has enough weight to pull hard ice off my grandparents concrete driveway, and make the front of our tractor with 1000 lbs of suitcase weights light when you pick it up. For small areas we use a 318 JD garden tractor with a 54" hydraulic blade. As far as the best machine for the job, our township uses a 6 wheel drive JD grader with a V plow and wing plow, and our neighbor has opened up our township road with his D4 cat dozer before as well. That's what works well around here. So far we haven't gotten enough snow in central PA for me to get out the tractors and start playing. But I'm itching to get them out and start pushing that snow when it comes. Have a good one.
