Crankshaft removal is pretty straight forward. How you go about it depends on what your goal is. If the engine is stuck (as I suspect it is from your post) easiest thing to do is remove the engine from the frame and do it on an engine stand. If for some reason you want to do an "in-frame" it can be done, but will take nearly as long. Testing the mag consists of removing it from the engine, and spinning it with something to see if it produces a spark. I don't suggest using yer fingers either to spin it or to test it's output... If you come back with more specifics, I'll try to give you a step-by-step.
