Steven, I can't help with your question, but it does remind me of a little story you may find amusing. I'm restoring an "A" and had painted the engine/transmission/rear when I noticed that all of the pictures I'd seen of restored A's had black shifter knobs. Now, mine had a metal shifter knob, and I'd just painted it red with the rest. I asked my dad about it; he said that Granddad had replaced the original rubber knob with a DOORKNOB! (Granddad bought the tractor new in '47) I'd never noticed it before, but replaced it with a new rubber knob. It was indeed a doorknob. Bill
