H is for helluva tractor!

I want to convert my '43 H to 12-volts. I understand from an article in "Red Power" that the best way is to get a 12-volt generator, and of course a 12-volt battery and some kind of resister. WHERE do I get this generator? Who has it, and what is it from -- an old Rambler or Chevy or something? Anyway, I am finally in a position to use this discussion board (after months of eyeing it enviously) and I think it's terrific. Anyway, can you guys help? Thanks!
