I've heard tons of stories about W-9's around here. Most of the people in the area that are in their 50s and 60s ran one when they were younger. Most of these people spent many many hours on them too. Dad said when they plowed with theirs at night the muffler would glow red. Dad said it would burn a tank of fuel by noon when pulling hard. Local IH parts place still has a W-9 with a loader on it for pushing snow and other misc jobs around the place. Several neighbors still use their W-9s too for loader work, haying, etc.
