One question, how did you determine that you have a 1953 LoBoy? According to most sources, the LoBoy came into being first in 1955. Good advice for solving problem might be remotely related to correct identification of the tractor. BigDog made suggestions that most likely are the cause. The fuel problem seems most likely to me. Ignition problems usually require more cooling time than you report.
