Brad, Bill below has given you a very complete description of the hood fitting and placement. The gauges are inset away from the holes in the hood to mimimize the vibration and consequent wear on the underside of the hood. There should also be a stub bolt sticking up from the gauge bracket that goes through the hood. There was a rubber washer then a formed (To the contour of the hood) metal washer and a wing nut that held the top of the hood in place. The M's had this bolt, the H's didn't.//FB
