I learned the hard way about a 674. Needed a small loader tractor to stack hay in my barn and saw this one on a sale bill. Drove 100 mi one way and gave twice too much for it. The guy said it had 5400 hours total and abt 200 on OH. I think both est were conservative. Ran i one summer on the swather, the rear end howls somthing fierce. Checked oil level all one hyd both gear boxes and diff. Found a book that says need to be sure oil pumps up to spray on top of gear box, thats ok. gave up and wear earplugs. Next the engine starts dropping a cylinder and i find no top end oil seems the brass bushing turned on the cam closing the oil port, when I tore it down I found two head gaskets and the block had been sleeved. Talked to my local dealer about a new block and they just laughed. About to call scrap yard when I found a portable air compresser in the state bone yard with a c200 engine with less than 1000 hrs on it. Ive just completed the replacement after 2 years of down time and am now looking for my ear pluggs.
