I'm not sure about the tank de-icer. with all thoose electrical commections something may happen. I thought about wrapping insulation around mine as the weather cooled. I've stopped using it until spring. Mine seemed to heat the water some while running, so it seemed to me insulation would keep the operating temp up. I thought the process slowed terrible below about 50-60 degrees, but that was something I read rather than actual experience. please post any solution you find as some of us would be interested.
