Bob, check the insulation where the bolt goes through the distributor-you know, the one that feeds the power to the points. Sometimes it shorts out there. That bolt originally has a fiber washer to insulate it and if the fiber has deteriorated, it can short out. I found a plastic one from a Japan made car that worked just great when it happened to my '44 H. Took me a l o o o o o o ng time to find the problem. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
