Battery and starter were considered an option on all As one after 1940 without starter would be rare I would think. First A with starter was FAA 18282 built March 18 1940 (from Farmall letter series tractors book) some earlier ones were probaly retrofitted with starter this required torqer tube and flywheel to be chaned though. PS looked in parts book and SN 501-54386 (this would be into early 1941) shows torque tube witout starter hole so it is hard to say for sure when they started a offer starter.
