the 504 is the only IH tractor that has a long fan drive extension, on mine the fan let go because of the high engine speed used on that model and all the force aganist the bearing of the water pump with the long shaft. it went through the radiator and $600 later in repairs it went down the road. Also the PTO is of the over center type and is hard to keep adjusted. I traded mine and bought a 424, very happy
