Any good oil will not do, not in those IH systems I used to buy my hydraulic oil from Esso, Esso Hydraul 50 is the exact same oil as hy-tran. Esso dealer said one day new oil replaces Hydraul 50, it is hydraul 56. I used it and within 2 months I bought hydraulic pumps for 300, 560D and 656D. The Esso dealer didn't read carfully Hydraul 56 was not a replacment for 50 but rather a new product. When you get right down to Hydraul 56 it is same as John Deere oil and will work fine in 66 and 86 series tractors.
