You gotta split her again at the next place back she can be split. There is a coupling on the input shaft and it might be stripped or the back end of the input shaft or the shaft it couples to might be stripped. My guess would be the coupling.
The same thing happened to my 686 and I had to replace both shafts and the coupling.
