I believe the pointer mark you are looking for is located on the inside of the bell housing cover located directly behind the oil pan so you don't want to remove that. Remove the inspection cover located on the bottom of the bell housing, it should be oval shaped and held on by a wingnut. That mark on the flywheel is very hard to find, in the past I have removed the starter and looked thru that hole for the mark as I turned the crank over a few inches at a time with the hand crank, it sure beats laying on the floor looking for the mark.
