Greg, I have a B250 of the same vintage and I have been using 10w30 but a 15w40 would be just fine. I had this tractor for a week and changed the oil in it twice because my pressure guage was acting squirrely, I finally took the pan off to discover two inches of black mud in the pan, cleaned everything up and am back to 10w30 and good pressure readings on the guage. I am never sure on this question but my local supply (Canadian Tire Stores) carry oil especially formulated for diesels under the trade name "Autolab." I wonder if there is any difference between regular10w30 motor oil or their 10w30 diesel formula..in any case I agree with the other post that today's oils are far superior to the 1960's I also use 10w30 Autolab in my 584 and it starts well and blows a lot of snow through out the winter. Good luck, those British diesels are neat little outfits. Mine is having clutch work right now but it has become my favourite loader tractor because I can get in and out of the calf pens easier than with my Case loader tractor. Mike in Exeter Ontario
