Not all 340 had the small point. I know of one with large point hitch. I once had my son in law keeping his eye open for a fast hitch, since he was not right familiar with tractors and hitches, I went to IH dealer and they photo copied the complete hitch from parts book. I kept a copy myself and must say very valuable in making sure you have it all. If you are going to make this hitch function as designed you will need controll valve from 340 tractor. Having said all that, still not 100% sure that hitch will fit, to me where it bolts to tractor is more concern than size of points. Personally I would look for hitch from 300, will fit for sure, also a better hitch.
