THE HOOD YOU HAVE IS FOR A FUEL BURNING ENGINE. THAT OPENING IS FOR THE SMALL GAS TANK USED TO START THE ENGINE AND AFTER WARM UP SWITCH TO TRACTOR FUEL, MORE COMMONLY CALLED DISTILLATE.
