Front Crank Seal Removal Super A

I was wondering how to remove the front crank seal from the cover plate. I have what I think is the original one still in. It looks like there may be a lip on the cover that keeps the seal in, if there is do I have to bend it back to get the old seal out ?
What have you guys done to get them out ?
I don't have a press.
