140 Hydraulics problem solved

Thanks to those who replied to my post asking for possible causes of a delay in response of my hydraulics. The delay could vary between seconds to minutes. A couple people recommended changing out the fluid. I finished this up this morning. System was full of fluid. I drained out the gray green liquid and replaced with fresh Hy-tran. That fixed it! Could someone explain to me how dirty fluid could cause a delay in response time?
