I believe the blocks were also stamped with the X1 for high compression gas. At least my W-9 has the W1 stamped on the block and the serial tag. Nice H's you have there. My 42 is a distillate tractor and I put high compression pistons in it with the overbore kit. I think I might be up to the compression of the gas engine with flat head pistons now. I know I don't have much power, but the way I see it at least I'll never hurt the transmission or rearend. If the engine you are wanting to buy is still in the tractor, check both serial numbers for X1, check the hood for the extra hole for the starting tank, check the sediment bowl to see if it has an extra inlet. Here is the no fail way to check - pull the valve cover and see what the casting number is on the head the casting number on my distillate head is 8776 D. Good luck!
