That is poor advise. 22" disc plates worn down to 18" will not have the amount of concave that a new 18" will. In fact they will not be worth the labour of changing. The reason the guy with the newer 22" disc is changing is the discs will not cut good any more. I farmed for many years, had discs up to 26" diameter on an offset and 22" on a 20' tandem. There is only one reason a farmer ever changes discs that are not broken, that is, POOR PENETRATION. If they will not cut for him they likly will not cut for you.
