Actually, the 26 series was built during the 56 series. 26's were built 1969-1971, 56's were built 1967-1971. The way I see it, IH built the 1026 Hydro because they needed to sell a large Hydro, and they built the 826 Hydro because they needed a medium-sized Hydro. I think they built the 92 horsepower 826 Gear Drive to have something in case a farmer thought the 76 horsepower 756 was too small, and the 100 horsepower 856 was too big. They never built a 1026 Gear Drive, as they were already building the 1256, which was the same size.
