The control valves that came on the hundred-series tractors are not positive shut-off valves, they rely on close tolerances to slow down leakage, but don't stop it. The standard system used a cross-check valve (about 2"x4" rectangular block which bolts to the bottom of the control valve) to prevent the Fast Hitch from bleeding down. Common causes of bleed down: 1) No cross-check valve; 2) Hoses not connected to the cross-check valve; 3) Hoses hooked up backwards - hitch should go down when the control lever rotates in the same direction as the wheels when the tractor is moving forward; or 4) Cross-check valve needs overhaul. I expect your problem is one of the above, but repost if this doesn't help. The cross-check valve really does the job when operating properly; the hitch on my 300U has been holding my 8' blade up since before Christmas. Good luck.
