OK here we go. 1. If you are using a 12 volt battery with a 6 volt coil (like I have on my 3 Hs) then a ballast resistor needs to be in the line between the coil switch and the coil. NAPA part ICR 13. For the Hs and the Ms a good place to mount it is on the steering/radiator support bracket, behind the valve cover, up on the side. Keeps it out of the weather and you can't see it. 2. If you are using a 12 volt battery and coil, but still have the points and condensor from the 6 volt stuff, no problem. NO BALLAST is needed if the coil is 3 ohms. That gives the equivalent spark as was with the old 6 volt coil. Hope this clears everything up.
