I would say 6". I cut 3" off for my liking. When the hood is on at hood level down it gets wider because of the 4 pipes coming together. You could put a 4" but would have to weld spacers so the pipe don't giggle. The steel is only 1/16" thick. Very light weight! Takes both hands to carry the old cast but only one arm to carry the whole steel one. The pipe that sticks out welds really easy even for someone who doesn't weld often. What I did is take 20" of 2 3/4" pipe expanded it to fit inside the header pipe about 2" down. Welded the pipe to the header and then just slide my chrome over that than trying to find a larger dia. pipe. As for pixs it will be awhile to fill up a role!
