Alot really depends on what your plans for the tractor are,ie. farming, collecting, restoration. Of course a sound motor that doesn't smoke is always good. If the tractor has good rubber the seller should allow you to run it through the gears to listen for unwanted noise. I would also pay particular attention to the front axle, rear drop axle housings, and block for welded cracks or breaks. All of this is assuming the tractor is running! If your not sure, I wouldn't hesitate to hold off, learn more, and then begin looking. Hope this helps. Good luck! Ed
