Dad had one horse that would do this so he placed a wide leather strap on it's right front leg and attached 6 to 8 ft, of heavy chain to so the horse would step on the chain with the hine hoof and sorta lock him up.Didn't take long for the horse to learn to swing the chain out of the way of the hine hoof and then learn to swing it in a full circle as it galloped.This was a sight to behold but even more danger to the cattle so Dad did a little horse trading. I keep 2 horses and raise a few bottle calves up to beef and one horse likes to play with the calves so I just keep them seperated.
