Like you I have a little cow outfit and horses to work they, (I'm too old and lazy to chase them on foot). My horses are cow ponies, horses chase cows like dogs chase cats. Its their nature. If you put them in a large pasture, together, the horse will chase them some but eventually they will learn to co-exist. Just make sure there is plenty of room for the cows can get away from the horse w/out having to go through the fence. Everybody around here runs their horse w/cows. Eventually the horses will get board any will slack off and you'll beable to put them together in smaller corrals. It would help too if he has another horse or goat to run with. I kind of enjoy watching the horses run the cows. Like I said, Just make sure they have plenty of room to get away from the horses w/out having to go through the fence.
