Before you get to carried away, does the shifting lever have any friction at all. I suspect the roll pin is sheared off on the couplers on to p of th e transmission. If you pull the cover off under the steering column. Its between your feet, right above the deck, between clutch and brake pedals. 2 bolts 9/16 wrench I think. Pull that cover. You'll see the hydraulic lines and two vertical rods. One is for the range, the other for the H & L. Sometimes the pins shear partially off and only let the linkage grab one or the other, the high or low. These stupid pins are like 25 cents, there is two of them.
