The first thing that i would check is that the points plate has a good ground thru the screws on the side of the dist. Then i would clean the mounting to the timeing cover and hold downs. And maybe try another set of points as i have had new sets that will not work and have gotten them from Case IH and drove me plum goffy but that don't take much.
