I know a guy that used to drive down the interstate and pick up recaps that flew apart and then he got the idea to go to a truck stop and got a bunch there (just the tread they wont get rid of the casing)they are much stronger than a car tread he would just trim te edges with tin snips to clean them up. they are a lot longer than a car tread therfor not as manny needed. hope this helps
