Rob: The biggest things here are the size and location of the dent. You can fill it with water, and let it freeze--I've done it before and it does work. However, it won't work on deep, badly creased dents--it works best on shallow ones. If you keep a sharp eye on the tank (not thow it outside and come back in the morning) it should work well. A body shop guy would probably weld a stud to the tank and pull it out with a slide hammer, but that's a job best left to experts.
