I had the same problem getting the sector gear off my Super H. Here's how I did it: First loosened the nut holding the gear until it was flush with the top of the pivot shaft to keep the pivot shaft from dropping out when it broke free. Then placed a scrap of brass flat stock on top of the pivot shaft (to protect the nut and pivot shaft threads), and gave it several good licks with a large sledge hammer. Not until I removed the lower bolster/front wheel assembly did the gear finally pop free. I think the mass of the lower bolster/wheels (a couple hundred lbs I'd guess...) was absorbing most of the force of the hammer blows. Removing the lower bolster made hammer blows on the upper pivot shaft much more effective.
