Snow Day in Exeter/How do you do it?

Well I'm snowed in for the first time this year, the main highway is closed so I can't go to work, I'll have to sneak out of town later to go do the chores at the farm. We have had all this sub zero weather for the last 10 days and now its coming in off of Lake Huron and we were dumped on. All schools are closed within the county. I have some cooking to do today. We have a shack in the woods at our farm which is the gathering spot of all neighbours every Saturday for beer and cards. On this coming Saturday I am doing a dinner: Roast Turkey,dressing, turnip, gravy,venison chops, moose steak, baked potato,bean salad,caesar salad and raspberry cheesecake...it is not easy on a wood stove, a coleman camp stove and a barbeque. I expect around 25 souls, we have a ton of fun and it is the social event of the swamp!. I will be on the tractor blowing snow for a while, the lane to the shack is the lenght of the farm..80 rods. Thats how us Canucks handle the winter,oh yeah and we sometimes snowmobile all morning on a Saturday , then play cards all afternoon. There's something about the shack that takes you back to your farm roots..the warmth of the wood stove , the quietness of the surroundings..no phone, no tv, the kettle steaming away..very peacefull and easy to fall asleep on one of the sofas...be carefull out there in the storm and the subzero temperatures.Mike in Exeter Ontario
