Don't know about any place else, but here most fire depts will not burn due to DNR regs regarding stuff like asbestos, etc. I spoke to the local rural dept before burning the old house, and the chief said they would "watch it" if I lit it, but not use it for training. It was good to have them there in case it took off over the hill. You simply cannot burn like you used to due to regs. I was a volunteer fireman for 17 years and we burned a lot of houses for training, but now the dept I belonged to is partly paid, and never burns anything for training.
