The 523 is German model very robust little tractor,17571 units built. 52Hp No is simply 52Hp 3 cylinders (523) Sorry your tractor cant be 1980 they were built between 1965 & 1971 Some have 8 speed gear box with hand pto for clutch but most were built with the agromatic gear box (a reverse range, field range and a road range) good loader tractor in reverse range tractor can shuttle back and forward without using clutch. I have a 523 serial no 708552 July 1967. If your serial plate is lost the No should also be stamped on the front of the gear box near the brake pedals. A good site to visit for German built tractors is at link below from there you can contact A Matthias Buschmann. send him your serial no and he will tell you all you want to no about Neuss built tractors.
