I will assume you have an M. With my M I start out in 4th gear, open the gas throttle up to 3/4 full, then push in on the clutch and reduce the throttle while shifting from 4th to 5th gear, then let out on the clutch and give it some gas. The trick is to do this before the tractor stops moving forward. I do this especially when I am pulling anything. My uncle had the tractor before me, buying it new in 1945. He and I have been doing the 4th to 5th gear shift all this time without any harm to the tractor. This is very important.....No matter how you get going in 5th gear, make sure your brake peddles are locked together!!
