Oil pressure for 140

I noticed a low oil pressure reading while using my 140 one cold day. The pressure gage was sporadic and the needle jumped up and down. There were no abnormal sounds coming from the engine so I assumed that the pressure was fine. Is this sporadic reading an indication that the gage or oil pump need to be checked out? What is an acceptable oil pressure reading for a 140?
