My M has a PTO mounted hydraulic pump for running a Farm-Hand front loader. I was spreading some gravel the other day, and yeesh! what a pain. Live hydraulics would really be great. Every time I set up to back-drag some gravel, I had to stop, clutch in, shift to neutral, clutch out, position the bucket, clutch in, shift to reverse, clutch out and spread. The process works, but its pretty hard on the knees. That M clutch is rather stout. If your tractor does not have live hydraulics, don't despair. Be patient and look around. You might be able to find an old M&W pump that fits between the timing case and the distributor. That would be a good start to a live hydraulic system. I've got a line on one right now for my tractor. I just gotta get around to picking it up. Then, of course, I need to replumb the whole system. It'll keep me busy.
