Hot Hydro Unit on SC

I'm a new owner of a Super C. My wife worked it about one hour hipping up rows. When she cut it off, a little fluid was seeping from the head of the hydro unit just in front of the battery,I noticed some smoke. The unit and the lines to the hydro pump were too hot to touch. The cultivators "hicup" when raised. I understand that I need to go into the unit and replace O rings ect..to cure the hicup but is the unit supposed to get this hot? I don't want to work it anymore till I find out. I don't have a temp guage for hydro unit. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
