Lot of advantages with a good team of horses. Lot of completely different advantages with tractors. When the transition was made from horses to tractors, there was some advantages lost that were never recovered in tractor operation. On the average working job however I believe it is fair to say that more advantages were picked up by tractor use than lost. But some of those advantages with horses will always be missed by tractor operaters. And most tractor operaters today don't even realize what advantages are missing since they have never been around horses. Logging with horses can be dangerous too. I know of a guy that was going to pull a partially cut down tree over that was on a crick bank. They got it almost snapped off but got tuckered out and let off and the tree swayed back and then snapped off and the tree and horses and everything wound up in the creek. Took the rest of the day to get horses out of there and get resituated. Just a funny story I thought I would share. Hats off to those that still have a use for work horses.
