A good point previously posted about bigger tire putting more traction on ground. More traction improves less tire slippage allowing tractor to pull more without spinning wheels. Wider rims and tires would create the same thing tractionwise as to going with a taller wheel. Note that wider tire on the same sized rim doesn't quit work the same simply because the tire doesn't fit quit right. You asked if the rather tall tire allows for more torque. It doesn't and actually works the opposite. A taller wheel will increase speed and add a little traction but will have less torque delivered to ground. A shorter wheel will have less traction, decrease speed, and deliver more torque to ground. Its just like transmission and rear end gearing. Slow it down and you can pull more. The more engine RPM's you add to ground travel the more pulling power you are going to have. Taller wheel's lessons the amount of engine RPM's to ground travel. You can adjust for the taller wheel in the gearing but unless you do more adjusting then nescisary you are only adding more hieght to wheel and tractor and if you went with more adjusting you would lose speed. The engineers simply designed this tractor with a rather tall wheel. I have only seen 36" rims. The H had 38" and the M did too but I think the M had a bigger, wider tire that fit on that little bit wider 38" rim.
