My Dad was a Farmer all his life. He could not wait to get rid of the horses. I barely remember the last team. I think he sold them around 1946, as soon as he could get new tractors after WW II. Before that most of the farming was done with an IH 15-30 with iron wheels and a 1939 Farmall A. I grew up in the 40s and 50s on the farm, and I never used a horse for any farm work. The neighbors had them though.
