I have been around long enough to have done farming and logging both ways. From a practical standpoint tractor wins going away especialy in farming. But the quiteness with only the creaking of the harness and sound of plow going through soil along with the smell of the freshly turned soil is something I allways enjoyed. I have seen mules so well trained that someone would hook them to log where they were being cut and they would go to loading area on their own. Someone there would spot log unhook them and they would return to woods. It is true feeding and stall cleanig can be a pain but on other hand nature takes care of healing most breakdowns.
